Real time video streaming and analysis is now available for the first time in EGEE Europe's largest production Grid infrastructure
Correlation Systems has completed its contribution to the EDGes project which means that video data can now be analysed on the European Grid.
OR YEHUDA, ISRAEL, December 24, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Correlation Systems has finalized the porting of Video Stream Analysis in a Grid Environment (ViSAGE) to desktop grid environment as well as to the EGEE (Enabling Grids for E-sciencE) (http://www.eu-egee.org/) the European GRID network..
ViSAGE is a real-time video analysis tool able to identify specific objects or behaviors within a video stream. The aim is utilizing this ability to create an international centre for processing television, Internet, CCTV video steams.
ViSAGE is a tool that receives video streams and analyses them in real time based on a filter such as motion detection. The real time aspect is made possible by using the web to run the analysis, which is much more powerful than the average computer.
ViSAGE uses EDGeS bridges in order to connect between BOINC desktop grid platform to EGEE high performance grid network providing automatic communication between those two different GRID networks
ViSAGE is available under GNU license for download from http://www.correlation-systems.com/research/research_edges.htm
"We are very excited now that we have provided our contribution to the EDGeS project" says Erel Rosenberg, Correlation Systems' CEO "One step closer to the completion of the European scientific grid that will permit the porting and running of applications on the combined EGEE-DG infrastructure."
About EDGeS
EDGeS is a European funded project whose aim is to create an integrated Grid infrastructure, across Europe, that seamlessly integrates a variety of Desktop Grids with EGEE type of service Grids.
The project targets communities that require large computing power that is not available or accessible in current scientific e-Infrastructures. In order to support the specific needs of these scientific and other communities the consortium will interconnect the largest European Service Grid infrastructure (EGEE) with existing Desktop Grid (DG) systems in a strong partnership with the EGEE consortium. Taking the advantages of both approaches the EDGeS infrastructure represents a major step towards a European wide scientific grid where extremely large number of resources can be integrated to support grand-challenge scientific and other applications.

About EGEE
The EGEE project brings together experts from more than 50 countries with the common aim of building on recent advances in Grid technology and developing a service Grid infrastructure which is available to scientists 24 hours-a-day.
The project provides researchers in academia and business with access to a production level Grid infrastructure, independent of their geographic location. The EGEE project also focuses on attracting a wide range of new users to the Grid.
